Choose the task in front of you
A car sale can begin with a running vehicle and a clean title, or with an engine failure, a lender or a notice from a tow yard. Start at the branch that matches the obstacle. The offer is one route; these guides also support an ordinary private transfer.
- I need to sort out the title
- The car does not run or roll
- Someone has towed the car
- I have already handed it over
If you are still deciding whether to repair, trade or sell privately, put the written amounts into the repair comparison. It separates what you receive for this car from a tax benefit on a replacement purchase.
Washington steps around the handover
- Match the document to the signatureAn ordinary signature releasing interest on the title differs from a separate affidavit or the buyer’s title application. Check who must sign and whether a licensing agent or notary must witness that particular document.
- Remove the license platesThe buyer must arrange lawful transport without your plates. DOL’s seller page says “the buyer can’t use them.” Remove personal records and toll passes as well.
- Complete your seller reportThe Washington report is due within five business days, with Saturdays, Sundays and state and federal holidays excluded. Use the filing guide and deadline tool and retain the confirmation. A carrier collecting a car does not by itself finish that filing.
DOL: selling a vehicle; WAC: witness exceptions; WAC: seller-report days.
For a private buyer who lives across the Idaho line, Washington’s seller report still matters. The paperwork guide separates your Washington responsibilities from that buyer’s Idaho title and tax steps; they are not interchangeable filings.
The seller report has its own clock
Washington counts five business days. The tool excludes weekends and the state and federal holidays in its reviewed calendar. Use it to check the date, then follow the official filing route.

- Describe what is thereDescribe its condition and the documents you have. The questions distinguish starting, driving, rolling, damage and missing parts. An inaccurate answer can affect the offer at pickup.
- Agree the collectionThe buyer arranges and pays for pickup. Confirm the car’s address, carrier access and appointment through the buyer’s transaction contact. Photos may be requested after acceptance.
- Confirm the handoverConfirm the payment method before collection. The usual pattern at pickup is a check once the car is on the truck and the documents have changed hands. Arrange any unattended, mailed-check or bank-transfer option beforehand.

Sell My Car in Spokane. Decide after seeing the offer. Asking for it does not oblige you to sell. Washington counts five business days. Starting, wheels, damage and title details inform the offer. Arrange any unattended, mailed-check or bank-transfer option beforehand. Request a Spokane offer. Call (509) 381-3339.
The photographs are illustrations; the document shown is the official DOL Vehicle Report of Sale. A sale through the partner route pays this site a referral fee; our own offer comes from a person who calls you back. Read the payment options and document requirements.
Buyer: scheduling; Buyer: payment timing.
Read the full offer process for documents, payment activation and the difference between a pickup payment and funds a bank has released for use. The illustrations do not guarantee a particular truck or immediate availability of a deposit.
Check the title before booking a truck
Find the ownership document and identify every owner and any recorded lien. The buyer says, “We'll need the physical paper title to provide you an offer based on having a title.” A state affidavit and a buyer’s acceptance policy are different questions. Tell the buyer what you hold rather than treating an application receipt as the finished title.
With an open loan, establish the payoff and release requirements with the lender; do not invent a sequence from a promised sale amount. This buyer requires outstanding loans to be paid before its purchase. The ownership guide addresses lost paper, liens, another owner and an estate separately.
For a car with very little value and no usable title, first distinguish a recorded owner’s licensed-hulk-hauler route from the abandoned-junk procedure for a landowner. The salvage and disposal guide explains why the two affidavits cannot be swapped.
Explain where the car is parked

Give the actual address in the Spokane area, whether the car sits on the South Hill, near Garland, in Spokane Valley or farther from the centre. Describe a narrow entrance, garage, parking level, gate or locked steering before choosing an appointment.
Location alone does not establish access. Ask the assigned carrier to confirm the equipment and approach. If a tow yard holds the vehicle, arrange clearance and collection with the holder; a buyer’s offer does not release a vehicle from a hold.
Buyer: assigned carrier; Buyer: access to a garage.
After collection, the account and notice checklist helps you keep the sale records, coordinate insurance and update any Good To Go! account. Treat a later notice as a separate item to answer, not proof that every part of the sale failed.
Before you request a Spokane offer
Does this website purchase the car?
Yes, when it is a car we can buy: send the sell-it-to-us form or call, and a person rings you back with our offer. The instant online offer is the partner buyer's; it makes that offer and handles that purchase, and pays this site a referral fee when a sale completes.
Is a non-starting car the same as a car that cannot roll?
No. Tell the buyer separately whether the engine starts, the car drives and the wheels allow it to roll. The condition guide explains those questions.
Can the buyer leave using my Washington plates?
DOL tells sellers to remove them. Agree lawful transport with the buyer before the handover; the seller’s report is not a driving permit.
Can I report the sale and ignore later notices?
Keep the filing confirmation, but respond to the actual issuer if a later notice arrives. Insurance and toll accounts have their own updates; reporting a sale does not perform all of them.
